That’s my point, he talks about how the city didn’t have the money to clean the water properly so he had to purchase a top of the line water filter. Now which do you think would be something someone in that situation should be buying now a water filter and cartridges or a refrigerator?

That depends on what he means by “clean the water”. Do they drink treated sewage there or is he talking about getting unchlorinated water from a municipal well?
Part of my preparations for the coming post Cloward-Piven socialism has been to replace all my appliances (with quality appliances with a minimum of electronics and gadgets) in the last year because I know that they are much easier to replace now than they will be later.
(help me out here, thanks)
are debit cards with a Greek bank Working?
..above and beyond the 60 Euro daily cash withdrawl limit?
“They still have newspapers don’t they?”
I’ve read elsewhere that their imported stocks of newsprint are actually rapidly being used up and they are unable to replace them, as with everything else that the Greeks import.
Thanks for those links.
Not if they’ve run out of food at the stores.
They may simply be buying all that is left to buy. AKA, all the food, jewelry and essentials are already hoarded.
Instead of regular stoves, they should be buying food to go in those stoves. Then a wood burning stove to keep them warm this winter and able to cook a meal. Perhaps a gas stove with a full butane tank. But definitely not a new purse or shoes or expensive cars.
See post #26 this thread.
Bread? You can always bake bread.
As Maggie Thatcher said (paraphrasing): The problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s toilet paper.
How’s that working out for Venezuela?
Bread? Not if you don’t have some type of flour you can’t. You don’t need yeast but you need flour and good water and a little salt.

Thanks! I needed that encouragement! I agree - there are no dumb questions. (Hearing that you bastards at the Frank Lloyd Wright Museum in Chicago?)
Nonsense. If Europe was so much smarter than South America, they wouldn’t be in this mess. Not that we’re that much smarter.
You are wasting you time feeding the troll.
Actually, they need to be stockpiling wood. During Sandy, when I had no electricity for two weeks, I ran around collecting it because the weather was getting cold and at least I had a working fireplace.
Oh. I didn’t know he was a troll.
