Since when did it become more acceptable in our society to be totally unprepared for anything and everything than to be prepared?

People who are unaware and unprepared are not necessarily our enemies.

Until the Bad Stuff happens and they are still unprepared.

Ever since the government has told people that it will take care of them in every situation, and the majority of people believe them.

Those who believe are left to die in real emergency situations, i.e. Katrina. Cannon Fodder, as the article says.

Sadly, this does not dissuade their belief.

Those who don’t believe still prepare. But our numbers are waning.

This guy has a bad case of verbal diarrhea.

I'm all for preparedness, but I do not share his childish analysis of what the future might bring.

Follow up: Those who remain alive are cared for with FEMA trailers, free food, hotels, apartments, etc, in a show to make it seem that the government cares...

But this is always after the fact. The actual victims are dead. The survivors are treated like victims, and wooed with goodies to make it seem like the government cares, but in reality the government is just shoring up voting base at that point.

The first rule of Prepper Club is don’t talk about Prepper Club.

Lately my experiences with the ‘anti-preppers’ comes down to two basic things.

1. Hey we live in the 2000’s now, life is pretty darn good and those ‘people’ who are doing all of that prepping are just a bunch of ‘downers’ man!

In other words they are much like the Grasshopper in the story of the grasshopper and the ants.

2. Then there are the ones I really worry about because they have the attitude that what’s yours is now mine in a SHTF Crisis. THEY are the ones that prepping OPSEC was intended for.

For now though the ones that fall into category one far outnumber those in category two. Unfortunately I can see them easily becoming category two people as they tend to blame the ones who have been prepping and telling them to watch out for the future. And going that step beyond blame into ‘vengeful action’ is all to common with that sort of personality.

Not so much that our numbers are waning, but the ranks of the zombies are exponentially growing...

I agree with many things in this article but I do not agree with this: “The fact of the matter is preppers are free, and almost everyone else is a slave..”

I think that some preppers will not be really free because they are not willing to share reasonably with other good people as they put God first. Also, there are good people who are placing their full trust in God, though they may have engaged in some reasonable preparation and will share what they have with others (as well as DEFEND their families from evil).
The entire collapse and crisis that is approaching us is the result of our turning our backs on living as God wanted us, in the way that HE had designed for our GOOD. If we want to survive this crisis, we need NEVER forget that and not make the same mistake again.

I fully expect to see our economic system and our present government fail....but not our people...those who have placed their trust in God will rebuild.

1st Rule of Prep Club: you do not talk about Prep Club

2nd Rule of Prep Club: you DO NOT TALK about Prep Club

3rd Rule of Prep Club: someone says “SHTF”, do a shot

4th Rule of Prep Club: no more than two people to a retreat - one must be a buxom blonde co-ed to help repopulate the species

5th Rule of Prep Club: only one bug-out location at a time

6th Rule of Prep Club: no tie-dye shirts, no socks-and-sandals, no Birkenstocks, no hipsters

7th Rule of Prep Club: prepping will go on as long as it has to

8th Rule of Prep Club: if this is your first post to Prep Club, you HAVE to buy all other preppers a shot

I have posted this many times:

You either prepare and stand on your own beholden to no one or you become dependent on others to provide your basic needs and become their ‘serf’. Me I don’t want to be beholden to anyone for providing what is needed for me and mine. I certainly don’t want to have to kiss some ‘gubberment’ third class bureaucratic to try and coax some help from them, I don’t want some ‘jack booted’ thug herding me in line and telling me where to stand, sit, eat or sleep. And last but not least I don’t want to be shut up in with a bunch of ‘zombies’ and have to worry about not only trying to get basic necessities but having to fight to keep what I manage to get.

I guess for some it is easier for them to be a 'serf' rather than the doing the work to stay a Freeman.

"I think that some preppers will not be really free because they are not willing to share reasonably with other good people as they put God first."

Does the scripture not say?

But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
1 Timothy 5:8

The warnings are clear. Read The Parable of the Ten Virgins.

Anyone have any thoughts about Meetup.com and finding preparedness groups in your area? I’m leary, very leary actually. However, I also don’t live in a traditional “neighborhood”.

Yep, hopefully every Christian prepper also thinks about how he can help his fellow man in emergencies, that is part of the value of being a survivor.

Indeed, Kartographer. I am not worried about you and what you will do nor several others. There ARE, however, those who are willfully selfish and concerned only for SELF. Thankfully, they are few, especially here in the South but they DO exist.

You have been particularly helpful already and a good bit of our own preparation is due to your very generous advice (especially regarding water filtration). :-)

I personally believe, if they have not yet done so, people who live in close proximity with others, whether it be an urban or suburban setting, need to make friends with their neighbors and do some planning together for survival and defense of their group in case of disaster or unrest. And families need to have a plan especially if they live apart from one another. I haven’t often seen enough discussion about this.
