The Henley Bridge became a rainbow of lights Monday evening in recognition of last Fridays Supreme Court ruling on marriage equality.
In a Facebook announcement, Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero said the decision was made to celebrate the historic ruling, which made same-sex marriage the law of the land.

Nauseating. In your face(and straight to your stomach) is the Left’s style—particularly the sodomites.
Sure is. I’ve lived my entire life in New York City, but my father was from Knoxville. He and my late mom met while he was on leave from the Navy back in the mid-40s.
Bump to the Top.
(In a manly, totally hetero sort of way that is.)
she’s a democrat. expected.
Knoxville must be trying to overtake Asheville, N.C. as the liberal bastion of the Smokies.
It's hard to believe this is happening in Knoxville, even with a Leftist mayor. We'll see if there will be any blowback.
Knoxville gave us that RINO Haslem who after winning for mayor of Knoxville appointed this democrat to some position. So he basically helped a democrat become mayor...
Gay marriage can never be equal to real marriage. The purpose of a marriage is the procreation of children and the rearing of them into the commonly held values of the nation.
Gay marriage cannot lead to either procreation of children nor can it rear children in the commonly held national values.
The is no such thing as marriage equality merely because one side of that equation is sorely lacking......
So why does conservative East Tennessee elect the likes of Madeline Rogero?
Knoxville’s demographics are rapidly changing. The city is being inundated by liberals who are fleeing the mess that they have made for themselves up north.
Combine that with fact that no one else wants the job.
Rogero will be running unopposed in her reelection bid this year.
Parents with their children in the background. Disgusting!
All that should have been seen of them was their collective backs as they grabbed their kids and got the h*** out of there.
That's what your Rainbow flag really stands for!
Was it cancelled the next year?
I don’t know. I suppose you can find out on the internet.
Part of it is City vs. County. Knox County is much more conservative than the folks in the city limits. Plus, she ran, and was defeated, by the previous mayor, Governor Bill Haslam, so some people thought it was 'her turn.' She had the name recognition.
Also, the city elections are non-partisan. Even though most know which candidate is the 'Democrat' and which is the 'Republican', it doesn't show on the ballot, so name recognition goes even further.
