According to the article he was only 1.5 miles from the Canadian border. I did not think he was that close.
Which brings up a question: Canada will not extradite if someone faces the death penalty for their crime. Some slug commits murder and flees to Canada and Canada will not extradite (mexico, too). But what about cases where someone is convicted for murder, given the chair and escapes prison and makes it to Canada. . .what then? Does Canada refuse to return the killer to the US? What? Don’t know. . .
