What time was that again?
You know it was his guitar on a lot of old Monkees tunes. Studio musician before he hit the big time.
Wow interesting new fact I didn’t know - thanks =)
Glen played guitar on countless songs for Elvis, Sinatra, and many others. It’s HIS guitar you hear on Pet Sounds as well.
Glen was a part of Hal Blaine’s “Wrecking Crew” that played on thousands of tracks including most, if not all, of the Beach Boys’ hits.
Fun fact...
Glen’s “Wichita Lineman” solo was played on the Wrecking Crew’s Carol Kaye’s 6-string bass that he borrowed.
Or even do most of the singing. Eventually the Monkees did both, after some arguing with NBC execs and Don Kirshner. But even on Valleri (1968) the only Monkees singing is Davy Jones. The chorus is all studio.
Glen was a part of Hal Blaines Wrecking Crew that played on thousands of tracks including most, if not all, of the Beach Boys hits.
Hal Blaine played drums and Leon Russel played piano on the Byrds’ Mr Tambourine Man
The Wrecking Crew was everywhere...and deserved their star on Hollywood Blvd - where, in late 60’s thru early 70s, my wife and I walked and watched the “show” as a couple of 19 y/o kids from Ohio.
The Playboys never played on any GLATP recordings. It was really “Gary Lewis and The Studio Musicians.” Even Gary Lewis’ voice was enhanced by another singer.
