I don’t actually recall the Crown buying and selling people, ‘’indentured servitude’’ not with standing. The Confederate Constitution clearly enshrined slavery. The U.S Constitution doesn’t.

You are an idiot. You are wrong about the Federal Government not owning slaves, (they did) and you are wrong about the US Constitution not enshrining slavery. (It provided a tacit recognition and acceptance of it.)

Why should I argue with you when you do not know even basic facts of the topic being discussed?

The Federal Government owned slaves. Really? And where and when did it ‘’own’’ these slaves? Who were they and what did they do, these slaves? That is about the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. If you were to have said “Northerners owned slaves’’ I would agree with you. But to say the Federal Government’’, in other words the government et al. owned slaves. You’re a wingnut pal.

Vermont was never a colony.

Various colonial authorities tried to lay claim to Vermont territory through grants of land, but a colonial government was never established there.

France also made similar claims on Vermont territory which were eventually relinquished.

Vermonters vigorously disputed any and all outside claims on their territory and did not honor grants made by colonial powers.

When Vermont declared itself an independent Republic in 1777 their Constitution explicitly banned slavery.

Eventually Vermont settled outstanding claims with New York prior to their joining the United States in 1791.

And you are a F***ing idiot who keeps insisting on demonstrating how ignorant and stupid you are. After the civil war began, slaves were captured and taken into the government inventory and declared as government property. About a month later, they decided to start automatically manumitting captured slaves, because it looked really bad for the government which was opposed to slavery to own slaves.

But there for a very short period of time, there were slaves owned by the Fed Gov.

Again, why should I bother talking to you? You obviously don't know the history, don't know the principles/arguments involved, and don't even know the broader history behind any of this.

You have the typical brainwashing that most people are fed during their lives about what happened, and you are little more than a bubble headed cheerleader for the righteous indignation in which you WISH TO BELIEVE.

Again, when the nation was founded ALL THE STATES were slave holding states.

No - The Southern States voted in their State Congresses to secede.

Vermont was never a colony. ...

None of this contradicts my statement that all the colonies that broke from England were slave holding states.

I see by this map that Vermont isn't on the list of the 13 colonies that broke from England.

When Vermont declared itself an independent Republic in 1777 their Constitution explicitly banned slavery.

Yes it did, no doubt inspired by the Declaration of Independence which that wily Thomas Jefferson had deliberately made to subtly push the concept of abolishing slavery, but they still had slavery there even though it was abolished by their newly created constitution.

You need to grow up and stop getting into discussions for which you aren’t prepared.

We’re all, all of in this world suffering the pains of growing up. The difference between the two of us is I know that and you don’t. Which is why I’m grateful to God he didn’t make me you. The simple and immutable truth here is this lamp boy: The South started the Civil War and lost. Word yo.

"Project much?' No, I don't engage in projection. When legislatures signal their intentions with cannon fire I'd say that's violent.

I’m a Catholic.

I'm fairly sure that is not the reason you are so dense.

What are you, atheist? Or Confederate?

Rational and Objective.

“The Confederate Constitution codified slavery. “

Bigots like you never see that the US Constitution never outlawed and even supported it.

“but those in Washington were more concerned with preservation of the Union, as well as keeping those tariffs rolling in.”

More specifically, Lincoln was a major railroad attorney and his buddies needed him to keep the union together for their railroad. So he did.
