Well this seems like an improvement.

Now they're talking about what Trump actually is saying.

I think however, this sounds to me like industry apologetics, trying to say "leave us alone to send US jobs overseas".

But it's a start.

Apparently this is not a joke. Trump wants to be Emperor Trump and give and take favors based on his distorted economic views. What a dope. Frankly I trust Ford a lot more.

Mr. Trump did not say he would ‘block’ them from doing this. Unlike our current crop in DC, DT is not a tyrant.

He will engage in hard-nosed negotiation, which will include tariffs, until they realize Tennessee is better than Mexico.

Trump never indicated Ford’s freedom to locate where ever they think is best for business. He’s just going to make the lower 48 a desirable option again.

What about Mercedes, Nissan, GM, Fiat-Chrysler, VW and Audi? Why is Trump picking on Ford when everybody’s there? Not cutting him in on sweetheart deals?

Well seeing how Obama does absolutely anything he wants, I don’t see why Trump can’t as well. Just run as a Democrat.

Anyone expecting one man, one person, to save this mess is delusional.

One man can’t do the job that over half of the American population won’t seem to do. Why is that? Our minds know we are in death throes, but our bodies are paralyzed. This is fatal.

We are on a treadmill that is leading us to misery and disaster and the thing won’t stop.

Ford got a huge benefit from avoiding the bailout. It’s probably why their trucks are #1. Pickup buyers are pretty savvy about these things. Someone like Trump could be a gentle reminder of where their recent is grounded.

Ford is an international conglomerate now. We already have some tariffs on foreign automobile production, and the results have been Mercedes in Carolina, Honda in Ohio, Mitsubishi in Indiana, Toyota in California etc. (list may not be current but you get the idea). So tariffs do not have a completely negative impact.

An utterly punitive tariff against Mexico (which along with Canada now enjoys breaks due to trade agreements) would mean that Ford would convert their plants to 100% non-U.S. shipping, possibly as a spinoff or subsidiary. Trump knows that; he’s a high-level businessman. If Ford shutters or sells plants, then we can expect more Mexicans streaming across the border.

Ford is the last American centered car manufacturer that didn’t go bankrupt and let Obama stiff the stock holders. The rest of Trump’s plan will tend to raise the entry level price of having a car, that will filter all the way down to the used car market. OSHA and the EPA have done a heck of a job already with mandatory safety, emissions and CAFE standards, so that the cheapest car available is about $13K out the door, and a baseline family car is more like $25K.

Trump needs to give them a reason to stay..

The Givemedat crowd can’t build a car. (even if they can, they won’t)
Illegals can’t be a reliable work force.
If Ford managed to find enough bodies to build their cars, they would demand a “living” wage of 40+ dollars per hour.
Federal, state, local taxes will eat them alive
EPA regulations will cost them millions to comply with
it’ll take years to get all the agencies approvals to build the plant. Maybe longer if the environuts get a hair up their ass and want to fight the new plant
The unions would want in and their cut

Now.. reasons to build them in the US of A

There is uhhhh

Ya, I’d build cars somewhere else too.

If you listen to Donald Trump he says he plans to renegotiate every trade agreement we have which would include NAFTA. He also wants to lower the corporate tax rate. All of which would make it a lot more appealing for these companies to stay in the US. Or come back to the US.

I will never vote for trump. He is for “assault weapons” ban, waiting periods, and at best wishy-washy on abortion.

He could have the best economic position in the entire field, which I don’t believe he does, but there is no way I would believe he is conservative.

I don’t know why people are fooled by him thinking he’s conservative, its the same with people who believe Carson is a conservative.

Heres a hint, if someone believes more government is the answer to the problem, they aren’t conservative.

There is a brush fire of protectionism traveling across the country and soon it will be a conflagration consuming every politician that stands in opposition.

Trump is it's siren.

There is enormous change afoot in this country, and the world.

Soon Gallup will shine a light on this mood and the political establishment of both parties will be terrified.

And that light is likely to shine before Nov 2016.

Companies are free to do what they want. But what we, as a country, must do is have FAIR TRADE with every country.

How is it a fair trade when we have huge trade deficits with almost all major trading partners? The professional politicians have sold us down the river. They have voted on trade deals after trade deals.

How many Mexico factories have moved to USA?
I will show you 10 US factories which have moved to Mexico for every 1 you can show me. Is there any better proof of how inept the professional politicians are for making trade deals?

Trump by himself has done more successful trades with foreigners than ALL THE DC politicians COMBINED. Reality is a beyotch for Trump haters. Trump is now 4th on my list in primaries, based on what he is saying.

Referring to “Ford’s head” – likely the company CEO Mark Fields – as someone he knows, Mr. Trump said he will call him to share the “bad news”.

Crony capitalism
