I am not completely satisfied with the current position of any of the candidates on illegal immigration. I don't think any of them are tough enough.
It would seem that the prudent thing to do would be a quick and decisive securing of the border, followed by deportation of anyone her illegally who is on on public assistance. Of course, we deport anyone found to be breaking additional laws, but why continue to support illegal leeches?
We need to broaden and strictly enforce e verify, as well.
I know that Freepers have valuable input on this issue. It is my hope that by expressing it here, we might be able to send a message to those contending for the Presidency.
I believe you are simply saying, “Let’s enforce the laws that are already on the books!”. Totally agree. We don’t need “immigration reform”...we need law-abiding elected officials. There is where the real reform is needed.
Amen. What has been happening for decades in the refusal of elected officials to uphold and enforce immigration law is what has put us in this awful situation now.
I do believe there has to be some serious deportation and it makes sense to start with those who are the biggest drain on tax payers.
Only two I can see that do not support amnesty are 1. Trump 2. Cruz
Self Deportation works. Over 200,000 illegals left Arizona after SB1070 was passed.
The problem is that too many states cave in to illegal and immoral acts of FedGov when it comes to immigration, marriage and abortion.
Don't trust him at all on the issue.
Cut off welfare and public assistance, put the word out that those on the rolls for food stamps are going to be deported. They will begin to go on their own.
I will look up SB1070 for a better understanding. Sounds like it got good results.
Truth be told, the only part about immigration law that needs ‘fixing’ (used both to repair and to neuter) are the government officials entrusted with upholding the law... in which they have not only failed miserably, they actively and criminally encourage it. Now as far as ‘current positions’ of the field of candidates regarding this issue, watch Donald Trump’s speech from a few days ago and get back to us. It’s found in seconds by a youtube search.
Trump says build a wall. With welcomed explicitness. Has not, unless I missed it, said what to do with the illegal aliens already here; or with Obama's nightmare (aka dream) action.
Come on.
The common sense solutions regarding our lawless government sponsored open borders have been voiced 200 million times.
Did it not become clear decades ago government bureaucrats have no intention of securing our borders or protecting our sovereignty.
They’ve been bought and sold.
I’ll take my chances with Trump. Compared to Trump all the others appear as 3rd rate DMV clerks in the bloated corrupt bureaucratic machine.
I have watched Trumps speech. He says almost word for word what Cruz does. I just hope that when they say “enforce the law” they actually mean enforce the law that says deport them.
LOL!
“Self Deportation works. Over 200,000 illegals left Arizona after SB1070 was passed.”
I remember Interstate 10 after it passed......thousands of Jed Clampett- mobiles heading home to Mexico.
It worked GREAT !
If Cruz had supported amnesty, he had a perfect chance to do so when the gang of 8 put forth their amnesty bill. His position is the same now as it was then, no pathway to citizenship for anyone who is here illegally, EVER.
There is a little problem with Trump. He will never be elected President.
Heck, I would have paid to see that parade!
” Ted Cruz said he’d build a wall and get Mexico to pay for it? Ted Cruz said that while some may be good people, they are largely importing drugs and crime? Ted Cruz said that many of the people sneaking in are the social dregs of other countries dumping their problem people here? “
N A I L E D it !!!!
Very good article. Deserves its own thread. Thanks!
