“Sexual assault” is the legal term for rape.

“Sexual assault” can include the act of rape but is not the exclusive legal term for it. The charge can also be used to describe non-penetrative sexual contact.

Thanks for the clarification. Words are confusing. There is a word for rape. WTH don’t they use it.

Sexual Assault can include other disgusting behaviors short of actual rape. Using the term, SA, readers can be left not knowing anything about what happened, than before they read it.
