I’ve always been grateful to my mom for leaving her native Detroit to get us out of there. It was a hard decision for her to make in the early sixties. I shudder to think what my life might have been if she hadn’t had the courage to leave.
They are turning huge swaths of it into forests. Urban forests and farms.

My son is one of those employed by Gilbert and works in the Compuware building at Campus Martius. He loves it down there. He’s doing very well, just had his 5th anniversary with the company in May and is a team leader, which means he has 3 guys working for him. If you’ve got talent and are willing to work hard, you are very well compensated. Gilbert’s good to his people.
Gotta appreciate people who put their money where their mouth is.
Highland Park was very upscale back in the day. I would leave it on there.
They’re not just confining themselves to S.E. Grand Rapids either. They’ve managed to migrate to my side of town, N.E. GR, and are beginning to trash that, too. I no longer live there, but my family does and I visit often.
