Full Title: WV Supreme Court appoints panel to hear petition seeking to remove Charleston, WV Mayor Danny Jones from office
A three-judge panel has been picked to decide if Charleston, WV Mayor Danny Jones should be removed from office.
The petition was circulated by Janet Thompson, who has unsuccessfully run for mayor against Jones multiple times.
Thompson wants Jones removed for alleged misconduct, malfeasance, gross immorality, neglect of duty and because “he, himself is an ‘incompetent person' as defined in West Virginia Code.” In her petition, she specifically objects to him keeping City Attorney Paul Ellis and City Clerk James Reishman, who also oversees elections, on his staff.
She claims Jones is negligent in his duties “for his willful waste of public funds, by his recommendation/appointment of two incompetent persons; one to the office of City Clerk and the other as the City Attorney.”

To say Danny Jones is an “incompetent persons” is the understatement of the year.
