[Letter from 2013] OBGYN describes abortion complications, urges admitting privileges for abortionis
Liveactionnews.org ^ | Letter from 2013 Jun 14, 2015 | Sarah Terzo

Posted on 06/15/2015 8:47:53 PM PDT by Morgana

Dr. Bryan Calhoun, vice chairman of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at West Virginia University, explains why abortionists should have admitting privileges.

We commonly (I personally probably at least weekly) see patients at Women’s and Children’s Hospital in our emergency room or ultrasound center with complications from abortions at the centers in Charleston: so much for “safe and legal.” These patients are told to come to our hospital because the abortion clinic providers do not have hospital privileges to care for their patients, so we must treat them as emergency “drop ins.… No other medical providers are allowed to care for patients, have no backup coverage, and then abandon them to the emergency room. We would be held ethically and legally liable.

These statements was made in a letter Calhoun wrote dated June 31, 2013, to West Virginia Atty. Gen. Patrick Morrisey, who was considering new clinic regulations.

I have a novel idea, stop doing abortions. Seems to me they are too complicated to start with. Delivering babies is far easier.

For the record: WV has only two abortion clinics, both located in Charleston. Women’s and Children’s Hospital, also in Charleston has to pick up the broken women when one or both screw up.

But if needing admitting privileges will lower the number of abortions I am for it.

“But if needing admitting privileges will lower the number of abortions I am for it.”

Oh it would because most abortionist can’t get them at local hospitals!

good!
I know some aren’t happy with measures to lessen the number of abortions as they want it completely outlawed.

I respect their position but in the meantime, every child we can save is a great blessing and we can keep building on laws restricting it and then I hope Cruz wins in 2016 and lets take it from there.
One step at a time.

Yup.
Not getting required continuing education, and the clinics that they run are not up to standard.

If they were to meet the standards required to get admitting privileges the overhead would drive the cost up to the point that significantly fewer people could afford an abortion.

I’m all for it.

Key Phrase: “No other medical providers are allowed to care for patients, have no backup coverage, and then abandon them to the emergency room. We would be held ethically and legally liable.”

We haven’t been doing our job in suing the living sh*t out of abortionists.

As well-meaning as these laws SOUND, the reality is that they do nothing more than legitimize abortion. They essentially say, "mass murder is legal, as long as it's done by 'approved' killers." This "doctor's" letter actually gives evidence to the tacit cooperation between Big Murder and Pro-Life, Inc.

Admitting laws are actually easier than most for abortionists to deal with, Medicaid and Medicare will simply tell hospitals that they will no longer receive funding if they ban abortionists. NOTHING will change and Pro-Life, Inc. will send out another "victory" fundraising letter.

For decades Pro-Life, Inc. has gotten basically every "and then you can kill the baby" law that they've asked for, yet the American Holocaust continues unabated. These so-called pro-life "leaders" claim to believe that life begins at conception, but all they do is push for more laws that codify how to kill babies. Pro-Life, Inc. is a FAILURE and the sooner the pro-life community accepts that the better.

After Neville Chamberlain declared that he had secured "Peace in our time" with his Faustian treaty with Hitler, Winston Churchill said the following to Chamberlain:

"You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor and you will have war."

The same could be said about the self-proclaimed "leaders" of the pro-life movement.

Unfortunately, the essence of what I said is lost on many who consider themselves to be pro-life.

It’s not a concept that has been introduced to many people. We’ve been mostly hearing over and over again that every reduction in the numbers of abortions is a victory, and will eventually lead to the end of abortion in this country. It’s a painful reality to have to acknowledge that this is a lie.

We’ve been mostly hearing over and over again that every reduction in the numbers of abortions is a victory,

The reason that they ARE NOT victories is the fact that there has been no real reduction in the number of abortions. Sure the number of abortions has gone up and down over the years, but there isn't a shred of evidence that this has been based on any law. Teen pregnancy has dropped at times due to cultural pressures for teens to not get pregnant, when those pressures subside the rates go back up. The economy has always been a factor in couples keeping or killing babies.

The supposed "victories" have been meaningless. Parental consent laws are circumvented because abortionists have lists of sympathetic judges who are happy to sign an order. Even the Partial Birth Abortion Ban was a sham because it only involved a single method of abortion (intact dilation and extraction), doctors have simply begun to inject poisons like potassium chloride into the baby's hearts to kill them.

It’s a painful reality to have to acknowledge that this is a lie.

Unfortunately, it is a lie that will only serve to make matters worse.

You’re right.

Also:
I did a search with “abortion” and found a large (About 57,700,000) number of results:

http://www.google.com/search?q=abortion&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

Notice how prominent the Planned Parenthood site is.
