The two most popular dog breeds in the U.S.: golden retriever and BLACK Labrador. And in many surveys, it’s the other way around!
Lynn-Dah-The-Dawg is a Black lab/Chow Blend. When she rescued me, she was ALL Black, including the rims of her eyes and the inside of her mouth, as well as her tongue!
Wow, a black tongue, is that common?
Just in Chow Chows...purplish-black.
I thought the correct phrase is “Dedicated cat employee.”
We consider ourselves to be “Cat Butlers”.
That’s silly. I look at a dog’s personality and if it would be a fit with our family. We just adopted a Boston terrier/minpin almost all black. She’s a high energy little thing.

But Boxers can come in brindle like mine ,,, Black dogs may be the subject here but brindle freaks people out ,, people associate that coloring with “pit bull”.
The “almost all black” is a big problem. I’d love to get a pure black Lab or, even better, a pure black Great Dane. Unfortunately, most come with at least a bit of white, especially on their chests. That being the case, I now have an 85 lb. Black and white Pitador and 110 lb. Black and white Great Dane.
I have a soft spot for black cocker spaniels. They are my favorite dog, however due to poor breeding cockers can no longer be trusted for temperament so we have Cavaliers, two of which are black and tan.
I can relate. When Darling Daughter (Blond and blue, just about the whitest non-albino you'd ever see) started dating, her first Beau was a rather dark Filipino lad.
I had a dickens of a time photographing the happy couple. If he wasn't a featureless shadow, she was a blank white slate with two black dots for pupils.
FINALLY I had him stand in full sunlight and her beside him in shadow.
That worked!

I’ve got a black dog. Out in the country where there are no street lights and if there isn’t a moon out, you can’t seem him at night, at all. I’ve play wrestled with him and couldn’t see him even when he had hold of my arm.
