I am surprised no one caught on to the beginning of the movie. The family during the winter is sending their two boys off to the island to meet their aunt who is supposed to be running the amusement park. In the movie at the airport, Christmas music is playing in the background. This had a feel more for a Christmas Day release than a summer release. Why? Because usually when a movie plays Christmas music in the opener or has something to do with Christmas that is when it is to be released. I feel the Star Wars crowd would have made this movie less money opening on Christmas and the powers that be decided to open this during the summer instead for a larger crowd. With the summer movies being really really light on a major blockbuster Jurasic World was the summer savior in the end. And before anyone notes, yes usually winter themed movies come out in the summer and summer themed movies come out in the winter. This also led me to believe this was preemptively released for a summer going box office crowd to garner a larger box office intake. I wouldn’t say it was the best movie of the summer but it has made the most money thus far this year. Only Star Wars when released later this year will do better.
