Our 100+ lb male is stronger than this 71 yo woman.

Our Jack Russell gets hers filed when she begins gouging my arms.

Used to know a GSD in Brooklyn who had the neatest nails. He had a concrete patio, no dirt, so he filed them his own self. RIP King, good boy!

I think most people don’t understand the damage that occurs from nails that are left too long. It’s difficult to do, but starting as puppies all dogs should be made to accept nail trimming on a weekly basis. It shouldn’t come down to a matter of who is stronger.
We got a GSP who was a year old when we got him and had never been trained to accept nail trimming. Eventually he grudgingly accepted it, but was always on the verge of bolting if our attention waivered. I learned from him! The three GSPs we have now willingly come over, lay down, roll over on their backs and lay there while I trim and then dremel their nails. But, I do it on a weekly basis so it has become routine.
