Warning: Don't watch this unless you're OK with openly weeping in your current location. If you have a dog, clear your schedule as you're liable to spend the next half hour hugging it out.

Weepy.

The only people who should watch this are dog lovers and humans.

Cheers to a better place. Thanks, Chris.

Thank you, Ben, for that. Yes, I needed the tissues.

Here’s what I believe.

You will see Denali again. He’s waiting for you just over there.

This is what I learned from dogs. I learned this from Grainger, the Shepherd on the day I had to send him home. That day was just about two years ago now, but I can still see every minute of it in my mind. especially that moment I knew that you could no longer see my face.

Grainger taught me that the only thing that matters in this world is love, because love is the only thing that you can take with you when you die.

Nothing else matters.

I was so sad that day. My friends were sad that day. My mom was sad that day. They all loved him too. I really didn’t know how I was going to make it through. They say time heals all wounds, but time takes a long time to heal these kind of wounds. In fact, two years later I can still feel the cut on my soul. It’s right there.

I thought I was going to take a break from dogs, because man it hurts when they die. You love them, then they die, and it feels like a piece of you goes with them, and that piece hurts.

But there wasn’t going to be a break from dogs. A few days later I knew the only way to stop feeling this pain was to adopt a new dog. A dog that needed help, a dog that needed a best friend as much as I needed a best friend.

And that’s when I found Isis, the Shepherd. Someone had abandoned her to starve in a yard with her mate while she was pregnant. Her owners were breeding shepherds, but their marriage fell apart, so they left the dogs in the yard, and that was it.

Soon after she became mine, and on the day I brought her home I could feel something else in me besides sadness. She made me smile again.

Now she is my best friend. I don’t go anywhere without her unless it’s too hot for her to wait for me to do my things. I don’t want her to sit in a hot car, so that’s the only time we aren’t together.

During the time I have spent in my life with dogs, I learned another thing about them.

Dogs are love.

When I die, I want to go where dogs go. I want to lay on my back with the dogs I’ve lost, especially Grainger, and put my hands and feet in the air and smile at the sky.

Thank you for thinking of us and posting this very moving film.
It’s a good reminder to be grateful for the unconditional love and joy our dogs bring us.
Life is too short.

When my dog had to be put down, I couldn’t stop crying.

My pastor asked one of my children who my dog’s death affected more, me or my wife. They said me and my pastor said “I thought so.”

I even cried when my wife’s dog died. I’m such a wuss.

What a great dog.

My dog is young but I dread when his time comes. This is a great tribute to a wonderful creature.

Yeah, man.

Normally I am a pretty stoic person. When it comes to dogs, I am not stoic at all.

And when it comes to putting down my best friend and standing right there in front of him when it happens I am a blubbering fool.

I mean like buckets of tears, snot, can’t speak, the whole works.

I am ashamed to admit this, but it’s the truth.

There is no shame in loving a dog. The shame would be NOT expressing your grief, denying what the critter meant to you.

I’ve cried with the loss of every pet I’ve had. It’s cathartic and good for the soul. Tears help wash the sadness away.

Yeah. I’m a real emotional guy especially about dogs. They love you unconditionally.
