But first...
Tell them:
DON’T LET THE PLANE LAND!!!
;)
That was a cool video, the kid is quite smart. Check out his moth video........
Make it 40kw and I’m in.
The EPA wont let you have the 100W ones any more.
I built a ~50 watt carbon dioxide laser many years ago as a science project, and took it apart after 1/2 hour of use. It was infrared, and besides the beam being invisible, objects that don’t reflect ordinary light very well can reflect infrared very well, so you were never sure where the beam would reflect from. Being older and wiser, I won’t fool with them, period, now. a momentary “mistake” can be irreversible.
I’m not as technically savy when it comes to this stuff, but I did get my hands on a laser that was, let’s just say, quite a bit higher output than is allowed for normal sale. It didn’t take long for me to realize there are far too many reflective surfaces around for someone to be playing with something like that. I threw it away fearing my boys (whom I often refer to as “Beavis and Butthead”) would find it and decide it was fun to mess around with it.
If it’s a laser shotgun, shouldn’t it be able to pop more that 1 balloon in a single shot?
The boy genius does not seem worried about reflections off those shiney metal parts of the garage door. I am really surprised he has not hurt himself yet. BTW, I began “playing” with gas lasers back in 1975 at the university lab.
If he can do it for fun,
someone at Skunkworks has a working prototype
that is 1000 times more powerful.
I wish there was a simple “upvote” button on FR...
Dang it! What’s the plane landing reference?!!!
I see no letter in BATFE that covers this...
Ha! You’ll have something when you invent a Phased Plasma Rifle in the 40 watt range.
I can pop balloons and start a bonefire with my 2W blue laser, what is so special popping balloons with 40W?
How about cutting wood? I know an Iranian jewler who bought a wood CNC like machine from China doing just that.
Back in the ‘80s, I built a helium-neon laser with a large gas tube that could be powered from the cigarette lighter of my old ‘76 Plymouth Fury.
One evening, I touched the glass laser tube while it was energized.
Don’t do that.
Start at Post #5.
All the "Removed by Mod" Laz CLAIMS the POST Button was only used one time.
Just another Laz FR Classic;)
