The change in demographics here has been rapid. While there are still annual lutefisk dinners and syttende mai celebrations, around 40% of the student body is either Hispanic or Somalian. My 8 year old daughter had a little Somalian girl follow her around in the library and snatch books out of my daughters arms. She also emptied several shelves of books onto the floor. Her father watched her do this to my daughter and didn’t intervene or give her anything but big smiles.
I’ve had women ask me for help finding things in the grocery store with no thank you or even a smile. A Christian culture is a well mannered and polite culture because putting others ahead of ourselves is encouraged. Islamic or pagan culture is the opposite in every way, and a lack of manners or respect for other people’s time, space and property reflects that.
You are viewed as there to serve her at her convenience, she gives no thought to what your actual responsibilities are or how her actions affect you. All cultures are most certainly not equal, and we see it all around us everyday. Sadly, the culture that is being shut out and labeled as dangerous is the one that is rooted in Christianity.
The parents are supposed to be ‘Christian’ for the kids to attend an RC school.
I know there is explosive growth of those who claim to be Christian in Africa, but is it truly ‘Christianity’? An old acquaintance who has done missionary work in Africa, made the comment once, that African Christian faith is a mile wide and an inch deep.
