Economically the Roman Empire was similar with awful unemployment, throwing out entertainment to distract and make the masses feel that all was well, possibly national debt, etc. I don’t see Congress getting on board with Cruz, because they could care less when they are in office for the money, which they make at what would be considered insider trading and a crime for you or me.
Slash the salaries and the benefits and the perks. make it so that only people who really want to serve would run for office.
