Shocker: Morality Goes Out The Window, Americans Embrace Social Liberalism
PJ Media ^ | 05-29-2015 | Michael van der Galien

Same sex relationships, having children outside of wedlock, having sex while you’re not married, having an affair with someone who — like you – is married, and even polygamy are now more acceptable to Americans than ever before. See here the results of Gallup’s Values and Beliefs survey:

Gallup explains:

The upward progression in the percentage of Americans seeing these issues as morally acceptable has varied from year to year, but the overall trend clearly points toward a higher level of acceptance of a number of behaviors. In fact, the moral acceptability ratings for 10 of the issues measured since the early 2000s are at record highs.

Now, I could pretend to be shocked by this, but I’m not. There’s a growing trend in the entire Western world toward social liberalism. This is especially true with regard to issues like homosexual relationships, but also with regard to abortion and a host of other supposedly moral issues. These social liberal issues are pushed relentlessly down people’s throats by activists, politicians and even popular culture. He who can resist it is very strong - or very stubborn.

As a libertarian, I’m in favor of legalizing gay marriage, allowing people to have children outside of marriage, and — yes — of not punishing them when they have an affair. It’s not up to the government to intervene in such matters. Gallup’s research shows most of you will agree with that.

IMO this spells electoral death for the Republican Party.

They have been attracting middle-to-lower income voters since the late 70’s by appealing to them on moral issues. If they are taken off the table these voters have absolutely no reason to not go back to the Democrats, who espouse the redistributive economics that these voters really prefer.

All of the little old Catholic ladies in Pittsburgh that vote Pro Life come to mind.

This is true.

We have normalized sex before marriage, sex outside of marriage, “recreational” sex among people who aren’t even in a relationship together, unwed single mother child rearing, abortion, homosexuality, strong depictions of sexual behavior in movies and TV, etc.

We have normalized behaviors which have imposed great costs on our culture.

All these things have happened before. Usually in an Empire in steep decline but with enough enough wealth sloshing around to allow for this silliness.

Most will continue to believe that . . . until it happens to them. All these fanciful ideas about what is socially acceptable are just that: "fanciful ideas". Over and over again it has been proven that ideas and philosophy about life DOES NOT alter human nature. At some point, the morons who subscribe to this way of thinking will realize just how wrong it is, although they will also look around to see that the false promise has wrecked most of the valuable aspects of their lives. The ones "cheated on" will cease to have a warm fuzzy feeling about it. One of the most important facts to learn is that God's law protects us. The eventual outcome of this cultural shift is very predictable and tragic. It will bring untold misery to our nation.

When a society or culture walks away from the Instructions For Life (aka the Torah) all that results is death, destruction, and suffering. It really is THAT simple.

Propaganda works. I always thought growing up that the US would always have a solid core of decent reliqgious conservative freedom loving people so we would not go the way of Europe. I guess I was wrong about my country. I seem to be Michelle Obama in reverse. Obama’s election was the first time I felt ashamed of my country.

You are spot on correct and I’ve been saying it for a long time. Ultimately, the GOP, and Conservatism, is DOA. Some can scream about agendas and rigged polls all they want ... but facts are facts. I learned that the hard way as a Prosecutor. And the facts are, the GOP demographic is old, white, dying and not being replaced. The Dim demographic is burgeoning at all levels except, well, us.

The terrifying part isn’t so much the shift but how FAST it has shifted. That is likely the result of social media.

All Empires die and America is on the way. It’s sad really as we had high hopes a little over 200 years ago.

Or is it smoke and mirror polls to influence the masses? Just wondering. I don’t even know anymore, is Gallup trustworthy? What’s its sampling like? Where do they sample?

Way back around 2008 or so I said that 2/3 of Americans are ignorant. I meant to government around them. It still remains the same. America will never recover from the communist world it is becoming.

Damn lefties. They think all this free love and doing whatever the hell you want without worrying about the societal ramifications is making this a better country? What goes around comes around and we’re all paying the price.

That was my first question, too.

And the method of their polling. Does Gallup even bother with old fashioned landlines anymore?

This doesn’t spell death for the Republican Party, it spells death for the United States of America.

People don’t understand here in the USA that socialism means never owning anything or paying 100 year multi-generational mortgages.
It means 200% taxes added to everything you buy, so a pair of shoes that was $75 now would go to $250.
Gas would go from out outrageous $4 to $12.

It means someone making only 25 thousand for a living would be paying a 40% income tax to the government.
The government tells you where and how to live.

Women wear a mostly size 0-2 because no one can afford to eat.
I am defining Europe that I have visited twice and this is what their peoples complain of.

AMERICANS ARE NOT !!!

Rebellious cadre, unwittingly allowed into positions of power have deemed America to be on their side when, in fact, we are not

We may be late to the party (although a good many of us are not), but we ARE here

God forgive us for being lazy and slack, but now God strengthen us to the task ahead .... in Jesus' name and for His sake .... (the same His our founders recognized and worshipped)

That is likely the result of social media.

I had pretty much come to the conclusion that Twitter was invented to herd the sheep. To allow small, organized groups to browbeat and shout down the opposition.

This is confusing as heck.

You are a pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage liberal, excerpting your own article here, to sell what?

That America will decline if we become like you?
