We have lots of examples of fictioneers. See how many you can name and describe their deceits.
Our magnificent Secretary of State and noted fictioneer, John Kerry, was a war hero wounded in Vietnam.

Here is a word you probably have never used but one you will enjoy. Have at it class.

In the movie “Tombstone”, Doc Holliday mockingly refers to Johnny Ringo as “the dealdiest pistoleer since Wild Bill”, but that exchange probably never happened — Hollywood is filled with fictioneers.

Too true, and your use of the word is technically astute.
Ty Burr has an excellent article in the GLOBE about the issue of Sad Puppies that deals most helpfully with the toxicity of web dialogue and gives good advice on dealing with trolls.
I am looking for a more expanded use of the term, “fictioneer.” Consider Hillary’s emails or Brian Williams’ imaginings. Surely Obama pamphleteers the globe with his fantasies.
Have I run off the track?

Once the authors of renown
Start churning out”Best Sellers”
The quality seems to trickle down
To Literary cellars.
King, and Grishom, Clancy and DeMille
Once they received a crown,
Began releasing books at the will
Of the Publishers downtown
One blended to the next, as if
Their sharp minds had worn down
Till of fictioneers we caught a whiff
In the shape of Sandra Brown.

A regular red pioneer
