Georgia high school football team made national headlines this week for what they did to fulfill their teammates last wish before he passed away.
With a group of mourners lining the field, the Coffee County High School Trojans carried the coffin of 18-year-old Malik Sparkman through their teams stadium tunnel, CNN affiliate WSB-TV reported on Wednesday.
Sparkman has told his teammates before he died last week that he wanted to go through the tunnel and into the stadium with them one final time, the Atlanta-area station reported.
His death came after he was diagnosed with kidney cancer last year.
He always said he wasnt ever going to give up and God has him, Sparkmans girlfriend Tia Williams told the television station. He was a fighter.
More than 500 people showed up to remember Sparkman and pay tribute to him.
The standout linebacker was expected to graduate next year and was already being recruited by Florida State University.

Prayers up!
Wow, reading this made my laptop screen fog up, I better re-boot.
Sad, so young and such great potential.
But what a tribute to Mr. Sparkman. Five hundred people for an 18 year old, for anyone, is a lot of people.
May Jesus welcome him home with open arms.
Condolences to family and friends of Malik Sparkman.
