new freeper here. recently revised my monthly donation up. I figured with the time I’m on the board and the fact that it keeps my sanity it’s well worth easily 30 bucks a month for me. but I mooched for 14 years by just reading so I have a lot of catching up to do.

I live on a fixed income, my social security check. But I manage to donate $20 a month in an automatic withdrawal from my bank account. Everyone who posts or comments or browses on FR should donate something. It's not right to enjoy the benefits without contributing your part.

Consider giving a monthly amount that you can afford and maybe the fundraising will be a thing of the past.

If all visitors, including trolls and foreign intruders were not allowed to post, and $1 a month or the equivalent could, that might make this place a lot more pleasant, and perhaps nudge many on the fence to make the modest sacrifice.
It would certainly take some of the pressure off from the quarterly ordeal.
