Didn’t know Marty was originally a tv production. I can definitely see Steiger in the role, though. Steiger was a phenomenal actor.
Loved the Borgnine movie, too. Frank Sutton (Sgt. Carter from Gomer Pyle) has a decent-sized part as one of Marty’s friends.
As far as Paddy Chayefsky goes, I think he must be looking down from Heaven, laughing and saying “I told you so!” Everything he predicted in Network has come to pass in media circles, and then some.
I remember watching the TV original on the pathetic little old black and white TV we had.
We thought it was quite miraculous.
