Microsoft Corporations (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows 10, is possibly the last version of Windows the company will ever make. Tech enthusiasts are looking forward to use Windows 10 so much so that analysts expect that 410 million PCs will be running Windows 10 within the first 18 months of its release. Windows 10 is expected to release for PCs this summer possibly in late July, with a mobile version of the operating system to come shortly after it.
According to Net Applications, an analytics vendor, more than 75% of all PCs currently running Windows 8 or 8.1 will switch to Windows 10 within the first 18 months of its existence. A smaller percentage of Windows 7 users will make the switch to Windows 10, but will still add millions of people to the tally as Windows 7 is currently the most popular platform of the operating system. The projections are based on the performance of Windows 8.1 and also the free upgrade it offered to Windows 8 users. However, most government computers and businesses would make the shift to Windows 10 later in 2017 as the Windows 7 enterprise standard will not lose support till January 2020.
The Redmond based company aims to have 1 billion devices installed with its Windows 10 operating system within three years. That will be nothing short of an easy task, and analysts have calculated that in order for the company to accomplish that, it needs to capture the entire consumer new PC market, get a significant Windows 7 users to upgrade to Windows 10 (the free upgrade to Windows 10 within the first year of its release deal might help) and run on a huge chunk of smartphones as well.

Apple is going to miss Windows 8 and 8.1.
Not adopting X until I have drivers for all the devices I’m currently using on Windows 7. Buying new equipment is a non-starter.
I hope Vista users will be included.
Buy a Windows PC and run (one of 6 versions!) of Windows 10.
Buy a Mac and run OSX and Windows (any version) and Linux.
Your choice.
Doe this include cracked pirated editions installed in China, Asia, Europe and all over? How soon for pirated Windows 10 DVD to be seen on the streets of Asia, Philippine, Shanghai etc
Name the 6 versions of Windows 10 that will run on a PC platform.
I was referring to an article I read a few days ago.
Enjoy.

"As with Windows 7, 8, and now 10, Windows 10 will be sold in two versions for consumers: Windows 10 Pro, and Windows 10 Home."
Actually, there are 4 versions that will run on a PC—two you mentioned; Home and Pro.
Windows 10 Enterprise, which is the volume license product used by corporations and businesses, and has several domain-level features such as DirectAccess, Bitlocker, AppLocker and BranchCache.
Windows 10 Education will be very similar to Enterprise but will have a cheaper volume license for Academic institutions. Teachers and students with Home or Pro may be eligible to upgrade to Education.
Another is Windows 10 Mobile, for phones.
Finally, there is the Windows 10 IoT Core. IoT is Internet of Things, and is an embedded operating system for various devices such as point of sale registers, Raspberry Pi devices, and other controller type functions—which may expand into appliances and other household products, as well as manufacturing control units.
So yeah, there are six versions. But as you point out, each version will have a special ability and will be used depending on requirements.
I would recommend all businesses get Enterprise, which, while more expensive, allows unlimited installations (with a KMS license), and home users get Pro. For a few dollars more, Pro will give you more features and can handle more memory and two separate, physical processors.
I'm getting a new PC with no OS and will be running Linux Mint. My current XP box will not be allowed on the 'net and will be for utility use only.
However, if you like the Modern Start Screen, you can configure it as the default.

I agree, and most all might be illegal on Chinese computers.
And only two of those will apply to an average consumer PC purchase.
The good news is that a good chunk of people (if not majority) will be able to upgrade to Win10 for free. Of course, if you already use a pirated copy you won’t be able to upgrade for free, but this will at least stave off increasing amounts of pirated versions.
True. However, the preponderance of licenses sold will be Enterprise. The business world is vast, and where Microsoft makes most of its money.
I'd believe they make most of their money there, but I think the number of Windows licenses sold to OEMs is probably higher than the number of enterprise workstation licenses, although they really don't make much on those.
