My son came back from a concert with all sorts of colors all over his clothing. He had bought one of the T-shirts that were really poorly made, put in on, then partied all night in a hot sweaty club!

Luckily it all came out. I soaked the T-shirt in salt-water to try to set the dye, the water was black. Really cheap crap. (Although I bet he paid big money to buy it with the band’s name on it.)

I try to wash the clothes first just so the dye doesn’t get all over. And for dark colors a soak in salt water first.

I never thought of that - but I rarely by new at the store. (My wife and kids are the regular store shoppers!) Most of the stuff I buy is from the thrift store.

Goes into a bag at the store, tied tight. Then into the freezer for a couple of days - then the wash.

I recall a Readers Digest article from many decades ago urging the same thing. One case concerned tracing back a series of poisoning deaths to a bale of blue jeans that were shipped on a truck next to a leaking barrel of a particularly nasty insecticide.

Seems like a no-brainer; you don’t know where they’ve been.

I have broken out neck to ankles in freshly washed clothes but it was the fault of the detergent. I don't use Wisk anymore.

Tide does it to me, I use Wisk all the time and no problem. Tide has the same effect on all 6 of my siblings and my mother.
