Firefighters fear for their lives over ‘fire-fleeing’ colleague

He’s a firefighter in name only. Michael D. Johnson won’t fight fires. Instead he stays on the sidelines as his Engine Co. 257 colleagues rush into burning buildings, FDNY insiders told The Post. Nicknamed “Tragic Johnson” by rank and file, he’s managed to evade the smoke and flames several times since joining the Canarsie, Brooklyn, firehouse last year, sources confirmed. “To have a guy that you now have to be afraid is not going to be there for you when you need him to be — it’s frightening,” said one FDNY source. The latest fright unfolded April 2 at a three-alarm blaze on East 78th Street, when Johnson’s irked captain radioed a “mayday” after discovering Johnson was AWOL, sources said. He had been assigned as “backup” to the nozzle man carrying the hose into the burning two-story building.

And that’s what you get when an edict to hire someone for his skin color goes into effect...any bets on whether it is him or those who point out how hazardous he is that gets fired?

What’s also interesting to note about this article is as soon as the communist Mayor of NYC, Bill De Blasio aka Warren Wilhelm took office, one of the first things he did was pay black firefighters $98 million in taxpayer money. So I mean it’s not like they HAVE to work anyway.

The obvious bureaucratic PC solution to this is to kick him upstairs - make him a supervisor and promote him with a sizable increase in salary. Another mark of shame and why the burden on real workers is so much higher than it needs to be.

I would hate to see any of my 5 granddaughters forced into a combat role. (Actually, I would not like to see any of my 6 grandsons forced into combat under the direction of the present administration……..)
A mandated quota hire of a 40 y/o “Amish” coward who has endangered his coworkers. His one year probation is up in two weeks. Any doubt he *won’t* be let go?
I am a woman, am self-employed, live alone, ride a Harley, play bass, and have a position of authority in my church. However, I KNOW I would not be able to run into a burning building with a tank on my back and be able to carry out another human being, so I would not even entertain the thought of applying for such a job. It would not be ethical, knowing lives are at stake.
It all comes down to common sense.
