I’ve got an old S&W pre-war .38 4 inch.Very smooth,a person could use it to defend themselves with ever expectation of success.
Back around 1990 a lot of police dept.s traded in their revolvers for Glocks. I bought a nice Colt official police in .38 special. It cost exactly $100.
It had the best action I have ever found on any revolver. Also was about as accurate as it is possible to make one.
Nice!
The pics, not You trapped inside.
I’ve got a VICTORY model .38 from S&W by way of England. While there it was converted to .22Long Rifle. New barrel, sleeved cylinders, modified hammer, adjustable sights. covered all over with British proof marks. ONE of some 300 made I have heard.
Then some idiot here in the USA attempted to blue it before I got it.
Now if I could find some .22 shells....
I have news...Revolvers still rule!
I had a 1968 Mod 14, 6”. What a piece! Had it for 2 yrs. before I realized the side plate was a separate piece from the frame, the fit was that tight.
Used to be more accurate than a friend’s Python.
Foolishly I sold it to finance a Browning Hi-Power. Ended up selling that too.
Stupid moves, both.
Bfl
You can dry it out more quickly if you turn on the range fans ;-)
It’s only porn if you open the cylinder
Just came back from the range, coincidentally.
I did a trigger replace and spring job on my Sigma 9mm and it’s MUCH smoother and cleaner.
Now if I could just shoot worth a damn...
Bless you Slim - these are beautiful.
I have all the Colt Officers Models except the 1st issue. But my favorite 38sp is the 1952 vintage S&W Outdoorsman. It’s been factory modified with a ramp front sight.
I love the old long-action S&W revolvers.
When the Illinois State Police switched to Model 59s they dumped a bunch of semi-custom Model 19s on the local market. I bought one for $200 and a few years back in a weak moment I sold it. I should not have done that.
But I recently acquired a 4” nickel plated Colt Python made in about 1973. That has eased the pain of a poor decision considerably. I used it to qualify for my CCL.
Yes, I let the instructor shoot it. Got tired of the begging. LOL

I'll ping you when I get a pic up of my late Uncle Denny's 2" S&W 5-screw, his former Secret Service carry piece [when he wasn't wearing his .45 Commander under his suit jacket.]
Yep, I still wear/carry it, mostly when it's just chill enough for a nylon windbreaker and its Buchheimer shoulder rig. Still does the job, still in the family, having more-or-less replaced my 2" S&W model 49 that I do not seem to be able to pry loose from my daughter-in-law.
