“I don’t want to provoke, but at the same time we must show that we’re standing for freedom of speech,”

More than that, Freedom of Speech means having the right to say things people find distasteful or blasphemous AND that those offended people do not have a right, implied or explicit, to resort to violence as a response.

Meaning, when Christians get upset at “Piss Christ they are not allowed to blow up the art exhibit and when Muskims get upset at “Draw Muhammed Day” thy are not allowed to blow that up either.

It can’t be “Christians have to take it but well, We expect violence out of Muslims so that’s ok”. Or the really condescending “Well, they shouldn’t resort to violence but what did you expect?” Tacit Acceptance
