The Pentagon has announced that it is spending approximately $700million to refurbish the Cheyenne Mountain Complex and make it less vulnerable to a massive electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack.

This comes just weeks after it was announce announced that the complex, former home of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), will once again be home to the most advanced tracking and communications equipment in the U.S. military.

An EMP attack consists of a deliberate burst of energy that could disrupt the electrical grid across the United States and block NORAD from defending the nation, events which the organization is looking for ways to protect itself from.

Over the years, Cheyenne Mountain had a variety of odd problems, such as water leaks and rocks peeling off the unfinished ceiling and falling on those below. Eventually, at great cost, the ceiling and interiors were sealed with a mat of steel reinforced concrete.

[Strangelove’s plan for post-nuclear war survival involves living underground with a 10:1 female-to-male ratio]
General “Buck” Turgidson: Doctor, you mentioned the ratio of ten women to each man. Now, wouldn’t that necessitate the abandonment of the so-called monogamous sexual relationship, I mean, as far as men were concerned?
Dr. Strangelove: Regrettably, yes. But it is, you know, a sacrifice required for the future of the human race. I hasten to add that since each man will be required to do prodigious... service along these lines, the women will have to be selected for their sexual characteristics which will have to be of a highly stimulating nature.
Ambassador de Sadesky: I must confess, you have an astonishingly good idea there, Doctor.

Well it’s good to know that they are going to prepare something so that we aren’t totally defenseless if something happens. Too bad they don’t teach civil defense or have Government Storage of commodities any more for the civilians.

If civilians aren’t looking out for their own, then who else will - not the government that’s for sure. They sure do have their own butts covered though.

"Well it's good to know that they are going to prepare....."

The article correctly mentions "NORAD and US Northern Command" because the same man heads NORAD and US Northern Command.

George Bush created the US Northern Command(NorthCom) in 2002 in a response to 9-11 and one should know what NorthCom's role is when shtf.
