While I mostly agree with you, allowances should be made in statements for those people who's bodies developed in a way that ignored their chromosome system. The ones that become athletes get a hell of a surprise when they get testing before big competitions like the Olympics.
Some incredibly feminine women - yes, I'll call them that - have an X & Y chromosome, but in the womb they developed female characteristics. (There's even at least one that developed full ovaries!)
