‘AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON’ REVIEW: SIMPLY SPECTACULAR
Breitbart ^ | May 1, 2015 | John Nolte

Faced with the daunting task of a follow-up to his critically-lauded 2012 box office sensation “The Avengers,” writer/director Joss Whedon faced a lift as heavy as Thor’s hammer. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), are all stars in their own right. You need to do more than just give them moments, you need to treat them like stars.

In order to accomplish this, six character must be portrayed as heroic. Six characters must have their characters and mythologies deepened. Six characters must have their inter-relationships advanced in some way. Naturally, all of this must be delicately structured into a screenplay that delivers a cohesive, compelling story interrupted by jaw-dropping action set-pieces.

Did Captain America say the immortal words: “ And HULK, SMASH!”?
:)

No, but at one point Hulk goes out of control.

The whole Hulk and Black Widow relationship was bittersweet and kinda sad when you found out more about Black Widow’s past.

But it added some depth to the movie.

I also loved the twins.

REALLY like what RDJ has done to the character!

He pretty much is Tony Stark, well minus the tech genius and the money.

You can tell he really loves his character!

RDJ modeled the character of Tony Stark after Elon Musk.

Black Widow's back story involves Daredevil as well as Hawkeye. This whole "thing" (pardon the pun) with BB is rubbish IMHO.

I also loved the twins.

Scarlet Witch has been a long time fav for me. Looking forward to seeing much more of the character...

It didn’t disappoint at all! Could have done more with the character from the Winter Soldier who aids Captain America-very small role here but looks to increase for AV3. Like the twist they threwn in for Hawkeye’s background! Twins were also a great addition...

I did NOT hear Thor say “Ultron, we would have a word with thee” which is a line from the comics that just would have been AWESOME to hear.

In the film’s best moment, The Avengers explain that they really aren’t fighting to SAVE THE PLANET. What they are risking everything for is a way of life exemplified by a Middle America farm with the star and stripes hanging proudly in the barn and next to the front door. After 15 years of Hollywood films portraying people as a disease, that tide is finally turning. Like Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy, humanism pulsates to great effect through “Ultron.”

Seems like great fun.
I watched a bit of a cam copy but decided it was so good I’d have to wait for a better version.

Marvel has found a successful formula.

Couldn't agree more. Saw it last night, great film.

Given the progression from Captain America: Winter Soldier, to Age of Ultron and then to what's going to happen in Captain America: Civil War (a year from now) we have arguably the most popular Hollywood film franchise in history speaking to OUR values.

That it comes courtesy of Joss Whedon (who has been deeply involved in setting overall themes and plot direction, leaving the bracketing Captain America Movies to the Russo Bros) who gave us Firefly is no surprise.
