Welcome! Apparently HoloLens caused quite a stir.

Microsoft is focusing HEAVILY on Windows 10, which is great. As a Server MCP, I’m more interested in Server 2016. But then, the general public’s primary concern is what’s running their personal devices, not the engine running the content they access.

I’m trying to not put money in these companies pockets because of their politics..... but my lord I will buy a Hololens on day one. I just cannot believe that this thing is real. The applications are just too numerous to not get one.

From what I could see of it, it does appear to be an impressive piece of work.

I KNOW! *drools*

They pulled the nose up with Core in 2008. The entered the stratosphere with Server 2012. I’m hoping 2016 is out of this world.

I do, however, fear that much of their infrastructure tools are going to start pushing admins toward cloud-based solutions with Azure. While things like clustering, Exchange, Sharepoint, and even IIS are appropriate for Azure-based implementations, you’ll never pry on-site deployments for DFS, DNS, DHCP, ADCS or ADDS away from us. NEVER!

I think that's what "private clouds" are for. On-prem, but deployed and managed with the same tools as your cloud servers.

I’m a bit old fashioned. Microsoft has a private cloud MCSE track, but I went the server infrastructure route instead. I might consider other MCSE tracks when 2016 comes around, but my job responsibilities are solely to infrastructure architecture at this point.

I take care of Exchange and AD, and do a lot of PowerShell scripting for one-off projects that just don’t seem to fit in anybody’s wheelhouse.

Love Powershell! I’m “the Microsoft guy.” I dabble in everything but my “loves” are ADDS, Cert services, DNS, and DFS.
