After the flood described in the Bible, Genesis 8:22 shows that God had promised that cold and hot, summer and winter will never cease for as long as the earth endures.

If the Pope will promise to stop passing gas himself then I will give it a try.

Of course what will always happen when the Vatican goes on one of these liberalism sprees is that someone will point out how wealthy the Vatican is, and perhaps one or more governments might help the Vatican put its money where its mouth is. At which point the Vatican shuts up all to heck.

Perhaps the Pontifical University should offer some courses in economics. Without reliable cheap electricity there is miserable poverty. The production of real wealth correlates best with social justice. Since everyone must obey the laws of physics ( at least in this world, perhaps not the next) green energy cannot power a modern industrial society. Carbon energy resources are essential for the establishment of social justice.
Pope Francis is from Argentina. He grew up in a country blessed with natural resources that should be wealthy. However it has remained chronically unstable and poor. It has been subject to the emotionally gratifying but failing socialist policies made popular by Peron.

The Vatican has gathered religious leaders, scientists, politicians and businessmen under one roof to agree that acting on climate change is a "moral and religious imperative for humanity". This was the essence of a declaration signed by the attendees of a one-day meeting hosted yesterday by the Holy See. It outlines a vision for the future of the planet, including the adoption of low-carbon energy systems, a shift of investment away from the military and towards sustainable development, and the transfer of money from the rich to the poor. The meeting was organised by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences - academic bodies under the auspices of the Pope that seek to combine scientific and spiritual values. Ping!

Just maybe the removal/editing of Chapter XXV, para. VI of the Westminster Confession (1646) was a bit premature.
