You asked for it.
You got it...
Well, no. If they start damaging property or attacking people it's a formerly peaceful protest.
It’s always someone else’s fault with these libs. Surprised she didn’t blame Bush.
Barricade and strongly guard the historic areas of Baltimore then close up shop in the rest and let the rioters do their thing. Then move in and arrest anyone who is still there and bulldoze everything outside of those historical areas.
The Mayor is a bald-faced liar. Just like all Democrats.
Another politician trying to change reality.
She’s in way over her head.
How dumb is that?
I heard that presser and said this is someone far over their head. I note she said what she did in the presser after a conversation with the “I just saw on TV” man. I guess his advice was to blame the media, especially mention FOX, for having the audicity to run her commentary unedited.
A city long run by the dems is in the same situation as other cities long run by dems, broke and in shambles. When is someone going to point this out, it is not an anomoly, it is the norm. BTW, why not get a quote from Pelousy as he dad was once mayor of this city too.
The words that she didn’t say speaks volumes. She did not say to the police “Shoot to kill the rioters.”
In the ‘information age’ and with the entire world accessing your every utterance... HOW can any sentient person presume to LIE IN YOUR FACE?
even as we speak Obama is calling for POLICE to use restraint !
the police!
Wanna bet if the rioters were at HIS door that Obama wouldn't be calling for the police or secret service to show restraint?
“”It is a very delicate balancing act to make sure you protect people’s right to free speech their right to protest,” Rawlings-Blake responded.”
What “right to protest” does a school-aged truant have?
In listening to her complete statement...I don’t think she meant to imply what came out of her mouth...
Though being an educated adult who is a mayor of a major American city...
You would think she could make a statement without screwing up the syntax of her words...
The pie is cooked and it can’t be unbaked...
Not to worry, they finally are going to start curfew tonight. Finally going to close that barn door.
Pray America is waking
Okay, she may be incompetent, but I do believe she misspoke, and by omission of the word “unfortunately” in the sentence, her words were easily misinterpreted. To me the structure of the sentence tells me that she was attempting to frame “room to destroy” as an unintended consequence. There’s plenty to criticize, but I’d rather focus on those things than play semantic “gotcha” games. Of course, she did a pretty lousy job of trying to clarify her original statement.
IOW: “I said it, you repeated it word for word - shame on you....”
I actually think it was “mis-speak”. Not first time I’ve seen press jump on this. Recollect the congressman that mentioned “legitimate rape”. In that case, per allowing abortion, he probably meant “bona-fide rape”, i.e., you wouldn’t want women to claim rape, just to get an abortion.
In the case of the Mayor, what I interpret she meant was along the lines of “rioters took advantage of the space given to protestors.” Space being, reduced police presence.
