To me you need to first decide at what range(s) and conditions you might be engaging targets, under what light conditions, do you wear eyeglasses, do you intend to be mobile/kinetic/taking it to the bad guys or mainly defensive?
Form follows function.
After considering all of the above, my .223/5.56 ARs have Eotech holographic sights. My .308/7.62 ‘reach out and touch’ firearms have 50mm Nikons with 45 degree offset iron sights
What your intended use is will drive your optics choices.

At this point, I really just want to see how far I can reach with this rifle. I don’t wear glasses (Yet), and can see through the AimSport that’s on it pretty good -better now that I have the rail extension attached.
