After almost four decades on the run, an escaped North Carolina prison inmate is back behind bars in Kentucky, having turned himself in over medical issues, authorities said on Wednesday.
Clarence David Moore, 66, called the sheriff's department earlier this week in Franklin County, Kentucky, where he had been living under an alias for years, Sheriff Pat Melton said.

Phony ID can't be all THAT hard to get; illegals sometimes have it under a number of names.
Pretty sweet deal, he got to live the prime of his life as a free man, now he turns him self in in his golden years, and gets sent to a minimum security prison with free medical care.
Right, NC is crazy if they do not parole him and ban him from the state.
That was my immediate take also. And after getting medical care, he just might get his sentence commuted.
