Ford also wanted his employees to be able to buy the products/cars they made.
He was a nasty old anti-Semitic coot, but he was a good businessman. Look at the crap that some major US car manufacturers are producing today. I can’t even fit into many of them, or their seats nor could I get out a window in an emergency.
Shit! I’ll put my family’s 57 Chevy 210 up against most of the stuff on the road today. I once got 8 girls and myself in it. Today you couldn’t get 3 midgets and a dog in most cars.
See the USA in your Chevrolet, America is the greatest place of all! (Dinah Shore)

I had a ‘56 Chevy Bel Air (4-door) that we got eleven into in high school. And I was able to drive around no problem!
Your 57 Chevy will outlive most of the stuff on the road today!
We had a '56 Chevy 210, with much of the same experiences. It was fully equipped. It had a heater, and rubber floor mats. The interior was easy to wash. My folks would pull up to a lake and throw a couple of buckets of water on the floor. I really splurged, and bought an AM radio for it in '63. The sticker price for the car was $1,600.
