Eat the rich!
so everybody gets to go on an overnight camping trip, sing kumbaya around the fire, and pretend they are destitute. it’s actually quite silly since unlike the real homeless, they know where their next mean is coming from, their next warm shower. their clothes will be clean, their bellies full.
this will actually do nothing but generate false empathy and i’m sure they will feel good about how much they care. if they REALLY care, they should adopt a homeless person, bring them into their homes.. feed them, clothe them, provide for them. not for one night, but for a year. that will show how much they really care about real homelessness. maybe then they will understand
Give us poor all your money
How Does It Feel ?
Everybody don't tithe for a year. Pastor will get the idea.
ayep. that’ll get his attention, or simply go to another church
if they really wanna help, they should do the ‘adopt-a-bum’ program i mentioned in my post.
Yup - quit your jobs, stay home, do nothing to improve yourself, quit giving at church. Viola, poverty. They won’t need to simulate.
A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest,” 34Then your poverty will come as a robber And your want like an armed man.
And by all means, make up some posters with various scriptures relating to poverty.
Provide Obama t-shirts to the participants.
I like that.
This is like the folks who spend the night in a box to see what its like to be homeless. The folks at this church do a lot of community outreach, however they could adopt every homeless person in this county and still go to Hawaii for the winter...
Bring your steak and lobster display complete with doggie dishes for feeding them only the best
Bring brochures for Caribbean cruise ships
Offer bottled water for $2 each and tell them that after they pour the water out they can return the bottle for a nickel CASH which they can use to buy cigarettes.
My teenage daughter had a friend who invited her to a similar weekend event- after two days of having a group of teenagers fast and read about the poor- I think the church youth pastor realized it wasn’t such a good idea- he just had a bunch of very cranky and p.o. teenagers; did more harm than good in my opinion.
Vanity or no.
Do not change headlines.
Poverty is also a mindset and collection of habits.
Broken families, drug/alcohol addiction, violence, sexual promiscuity - these are also causes of dire poverty, and in America today, they are big causes.
to really solve poverty, people need to accept and understand that.
Send em to Cuba, Missouri. ..
I’d go just for the Meth.
