Today's feature stars Republican superstar Steve McQueen as a rodeo cowboy trying to earn enough money to give his dad a trip to Australia.

"Tell him Junior sent 'ya."

I have a Junior Bonner story!

A fellow portrait artist at a craft fair was a gal who’d been a hand on the set of Junior Bonner, with a cool story about it.

Everyone was taking a break, so she mosied over to the empty rodeo stands where another hand was relaxing. They struck up a friendly conversation for about 20 minutes til she realized it was McQueen himself! Couldn’t believe how down-to-earth and personable he was. Boy was she thrilled.

My eyes are a bit off today; I read that title as “Junior Boehner,” I am sad to admit.

Excellent film with a great cast - the bar fight gets stopped when the band plays the Star Spangled Banner - all the cowpokes quit fighting and took off their hats. Another time.

Loved that movie and every other movie McQueen made.

The yellow dog that you see in the movie is the grandson to Spike the dog, from the movie Old Yeller (1957).

Actually, this is one of McQueen’s sleepers. A very good movie. Not quite up there with “The Rievers” but a damn good performance, anyway.
