We had it right when we had wacs waves etc
Well said. Being the smallest branch, Marines have very little margin of error.
An anecdote from my son, who is prior enlisted (Reserve) and now in flight school at Pensacola.
They have a series of six written tests over four weeks. If a Marine fails one (80% to pass) he is set back. If he fails a second, he washes out. The Navy guys wash out only upon a third failure.
Initially, this seemed patently unfair; but, as I have considered it, I think it has to do with not adding anything at all to the small margin of error.
“I don’t think women should even be in the Marine Corps”
Me neither. Its bad enough that women have to wear 4 inch stilettos and uncomfortable underwear from Victoria’s Secrets. We don’t have time to nag terrorists to death. :-)
My son is a Marine, and hell yes I am damn proud of him. Women Marines serve their country with honor, and I have the utmost respect for each and everyone of them. However, I don’t want women in combat. I’m an old southern gentleman who still believes that it is a mans responsibility to protect woman and children.

Thanks for the ping.
Any culture that would seek out such women and tolerate them in such positions is a culture not worth fighting for in the first place.
OOOH RA What you said !!!
From an old battery operated Grunt. (Radio Chief)
Thanks for your service.
Obozo will not take no for an answer. The Marine Corp Commandant will lower standards so women can quality for anything a man does or be summarily fired.
“In the realm of all available women, there are surely females who can lead just as effectively as men; who can out PT, out shoot, out fight your average male Marine Officer candidate going through this course, if measured by the same exact standards and requirements as the men”.
What planet would this woman live on?
On the other hand, my nephew married a WM from his class at Quantico. He is now a LtCol (I think in USMC) and she is a Maj (I think USMCR). They have three children, the eldest of whom will enter the Citadel this fall.
You might want to get their view on this issue, or from more officers or enlisted like them, before you get too deep into more theory.
Just a suggestion.
Ah, perhaps you might want to chat with a woman fighter from the IDF. I think that culture is worth being in, when you come right down to brass tacks.
My Dad (three combat tours) seemed more proud of his expert infantry badge than his CIB. I remember him saying once, “Anyone can get shot at. I had to earn the EIB.”
The IDF does not put women in combat roles. Yes they are drafted for 2 years, but they perform support and training roles, though they have begun to train some combat pilots. Not that Israeli women aren't a feisty bunch. I have relatives there.
And if the chips were really down, and the world was agaist you, like in Kristallnacht? Having women who know how to kill might be useful. Actually, it's that kind of seriously womanly protective it might be good to have around, not those that wet their pants if they see a gun. One who could have stopped Adam Lanza in his tracks, for instance.
Just sayin' --
The US schools used to have gun and rifle clubs, including girls.
That would be Exhibit A of what I’m talking about.
