WASHINGTON (AP) — Surveys find that men in U.S. special operations forces do not believe women can meet the physical and mental demands of their commando jobs, and they fear the Pentagon will lower standards to integrate women into their elite units, according to interviews and documents obtained by The Associated Press.

Studies that surveyed personnel found "major misconceptions" within special operations about whether women should be brought into the male-only jobs. They also revealed concerns that department leaders would "capitulate to political pressure, allowing erosion of training standards," according to one document.

The feminist movement continues to infiltrate society.

Note to FReeperettes: I am not a sexist, just a realist. My experience in the Army Field Artillery enforces my belief that it's a very physically demanding job, even for men.

Reality is racist, sexist, and homophobic.

It’s OK, they can always be pilots.

The men will just have to keep the grunt jobs so the cush jobs can be populated by the Victims of Patriarchy.

There most certainly are highly trained women operators in certain agencies.

Don't worry. When the enemy discovers that we have women in our ranks (to show that we believe in equality), they will show their respect. They will not fight us as hard as usual, because they do not what to highlight the differences in physical strength between men and women.

After all, fighting "fair" is more important than winning!

The producers of this new show evidently don't think so.

‘American Odyssey’ Review: Anna Friel’s Ambitious Drama Too ‘Homeland’

American OdysseyNBC’s new political conspiracy drama starring Anna Friel, debuts April 5, right after A.D. The Bible Continues. But as I say in my video review above, this conspiracy drama is very different fare for an Easter Sunday evening. It’s an ambitious effort from NBC that in its best moments feels like those much-revered 1970s political dramas. It’s worth giving the show chance to grow, but I have to say that for most of the time American Odyssey feels derivative of Showtime’s Emmy-winning, long-running Homeland.

The story line by Peter Horton, Adam Armus and Kay Foster often is overly complex. At its foundation is Friel’s character, a Special Forces translator caught up in a hornet’s nest of corporate dirty deals, bloody realpolitik, private armies and a hostile landscape. Supposedly killed by jihadists while deployed in Mali, Sgt. Odelle Ballard is trying to find her way home.

We will not have true equality in this country until all females between the ages of 18 and 55 are forced to sign up with the Selective Service.

Women don’t have to care about the Defense budget because they can’t be forced to fight like men can. Females can sit around and worry about spending taxpayer money for Headstart over the military because they don’t have to worry about getting blown up. Draft them and put them on point.

Of course women will be admitted. Of course standards will be lowered. “In declining states the leadership intuitively chooses the most harmful course of action.”- F. Nietzsche.

Nobody worries about the draft. It’s why we have endless wars. That and the fact that it all goes on the national credit card (assuming they put it on the books at all).

Sure, but that is not a blanket statement of being a SEAL or similar operator. There is a role to play for certain skill sets, regardless of sex.

i’m trying to imagine a woman doing a HALO jump into a swampy area, hiking 10 miles, then low crawling the last 4 only to lay in wait for the target, without moving, for 5 days

anyone want to guess how many hygiene issues she would have and whether or not she’d still be functional at the end of that week?

No, I believe you, it’s pushing a little far into absurd demands when a small percentage of men, and an even smaller percentage of women would qualify. I thought far left was antiwar...

...whether women can do the job.

Define ‘job’. No intent to say something dirty here.

Seriously, are we talking prepping, carrying, infiltrating, engaging in the mission, extracting(potentially having to carry a wounded or dead companion weighing 200 lbs), and getting everyone and everything back to the pick-up location, without having some over-stress emotional malfunction?

"We will continue in our commitment to provide the best manned, trained, and equipped special operations personnel to execute our nation's most difficult and sensitive missions," Votel said. "With that in mind, we can assure you that our high standards will not be lowered."

LIAR.

Bland said that in addition to Votel's email to service members, leaders have discussed the issue with commanders at frequent meetings so they can better educate their troops.

IOW, tow the party line or drop your resignations.

It wouldn’t have worked with armored cavalry in Vietnam. And the infantry was even funkier.
