Buckley was an Infantry officer during WWII, and joined the CIA during the Korean War.
Like H.W. Bush, if forced to fisticuffs, there is no doubt that a bit of a tiger was inside that cultured exterior.

Never seen the clip before but when I saw Bill Buckley
attached to the quote I knew it would be Gore Vidal on
the receiving end. Always loved Buckley and hated Vidal
but two blue bloods going at it is damned amusing. It’s
