A little martial law movie circa 1973 to get you in the mood.
The much more recent Timothy Oliphant version is pretty good too.
I saw the newer version but I didn’t know about the older one until earlier this evening.
Same here. I have to say the original seems to be pretty well made. Better acting than “The Punisher”, which defines the “C movie”.
First, that here's the proto-left anti-US-government paranoia piece casting totalitarianism and martial law -- affronts to the Constitution as they are -- as the bogey-man's weapons; whereas now the Left IS the government and keen on leveraging all its toys and tools -- totalitarianism, martial law, and every other affront to the constitution -- to perpetuate its power. Now the Left portrays constitutionalists and locals with guns as The New Crazies.
The second is that I seem to recall that leading men were portrayed as/by grown up men who looked, dressed, and acted like adults. Then it seems, at about the time this movie was made, leading men suddenly became overgrown adolescents (and then later overgrown pubescents). Not that it matters, because everyone knows that TV and movies don't influence anyone do I really need the sarc tag here?
