Before I devote an hour and 17 minutes to this could you give us a an teensy-weensy hint as to what it’s about?
Thanks. Based on a Pat Frank story, and with that cast (and Rod Serling doing the screen play) it should be worth watching.
Noting in prime time today could touch this with a 40 foot pole.
Colonel Price and his joint services team in the Pentagon are given the task of estimating the Soviet Union’s intentions, but their warnings of a present Russian sneak attack with nuclear weapons in the next two weeks on Christmas Eve is met with derisive disbelief....
The story sounds vaguely similar to the plot of the recent reboot of ‘Battlestar Galactica’. (We have this on DVD and I am watching it again for like the 5th time!)
I was 7 when this came on for the first time. I was not allowed to stay up to watch it. I have been looking for it for a London time. I have a DVD with a collection of Playhouse 90 broadcasts but this wasn’t on it. Thanx for posting it’s location.
Did Mr. Netanyahu thank the NGOs for getting the Arabs to the polls who then voted for Likud?
Spoiler Alert!
Skip below if you don't want to know.
However, on the story... The commies would have to have numerous infiltrators spiking coffee all over the USAF, and in the 1950s we had a lot more fighter bases due to shorter range. And what about Mormon pilots who don't drink coffee?
I don’t think many people under sixty know there were a number of tv shows like Playhouse 90 (Kraft Theater, Texaco Star Theater) and some others.
Bump to watch later. And thanks, I well remember all the good shows from back then.
Thanks for posting this link. I just watched the entire episode, and enjoyed it. I agree with the others who said there is nothing like this on TV today.

The premise of the story assumes a fictional B-99 bomber force is the only nuclear deterrent force available until two weeks in the future as the other nuclear bomber forces become available. So, the sabotage of the two SAC bases operating the B-99 nuclear deterrent force was all that was needed in the fictional story to give the Soviet nuclear attack forces an opportunity to attack without the threat of MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction). The story predates the advent of land based and nuclear submarine ballistic missile ICBM nuclear deterrent forces. Presumably not everyone in the B-99 crew was going to be a Mormon or someone who does not drink coffee.
IOW, it was the cook.
No one suspects the cook, right Johnny?
What happened? I missed it. ;)
Always blame the cook.
/johnny
In this case it’s either the cook or Darks.
Darks will deny it...
