Two neighboring families are helping to raise 3 of the calves, including one with a Jersey cow who had a calf the same day and is able to provide plenty of milk. I was thinking of what they would do for the calves while I was reading the story.
My family had a sweet Jersey cow named Daisy about the time I started first grade. Dad's herd at the time were White Faced Hereford polled cattle, a really beautiful breed. He was the odd man out, with Black Angus cattle on all the land for miles around.
