Introducing a pre-boiled egg for the lazy cook
Fox News ^ | March 18, 2015

f you find it difficult to create a perfectly cooked egg, the Yowk may be the answer to your kitchen struggles.

New Egg Company is about to release its newest product—an egg that has been pre-cooked before it hits shelves and promises diners a “perfect soft boiled” experience. Just add boiling water to the special container and voilà—a perfectly runny egg in just five minutes. By our estimate, that’s the same amount of time it takes to make a soft boiled egg the labor-intensive, old fashioned way in a pot.

I’m all for any invention or innovation that’s even perceived to be helpful or necessary. If someone is stupid enough to buy it, good for the egg company!

So, I’m going to buy a preboiled egg that only takes five minutes, rather than making my own three minute egg?
Whhhy?

I have not had softboiled eggs in years.

Growing up, I remember the ritual my mother carried out:

Make toast, butter it, cut into small cubes. Put into bowls, add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to each bowl, then the soft-boiled egg, removed from shell.

Stir thoroughly, coarsely chopping the egg while mixing. YUM

(I would never purchase eggs that are supposedly already soft-boiled. GEEEZ some people are so lazy!)

One throw-away container per egg isn't exactly "green" now, is it?

I bought some boiled, shelled eggs at Costco last summer. Tasted the same as home boiled, but perfectly shelled, so making deviled eggs was never easier.

So good to hear that someone has found an opportunity for all those poultry farmers in the vicinity of the Fukushima plant.

Why don’t they just cut out the middleman by genetically engineering chickens that lay hard-boiled eggs?

Put it in a microwave oven and you’ll get a surprise.

All we need now is a government program to teach them how to boil the water without burning it.

Kinda like the genetically modified apple that doesn’t turn brown after you cut it.

Just kinda pointless.

Introducing?! I’ve seen them in the store for years. Generally in that pre-built salad section near produce. Nothing Idiocracy about it. In this world where the tax burden means both parents work, and the unemployment situation means anybody that works pulls more than 40 hours convenience sells.

How about pre-scrambled in the shell? I’d buy that one.

I’ve been seeing the Eggstractor on TV and have been thinking of trying one. This guy did a test of his own and it seems to work OK.

I bought a little thing called a Go Dash from Amazon It will cook up to seven eggs in shell hard or soft. The hardboiled eggs peel the shell off easier than cooked in pan and the eggs are steamed, not boiled so they are less rubbery.

Also makes two poached eggs or one omelet.

It just requires a small amount of water, plug in and cook about seven minutes. More versatile than this new invention or the extractor.

Costs about $25.00 but big spenders can buy more expensive machines.

I have bought those at Trader Joes and love that I don’t have to shell them. They are perfect unlike anything I unshelled.

When can we get our frozen toast that only needs to be pulled from the freezer and heated in the toaster for 3 minutes, to come out perfect every time?
