The scenario has been floated before, but when someone like ESPNs John Clayton predicts that the Washington Redskins will select Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota with the fifth overall pick of next months NFL draft, ears perk up.
And so, thats what happened late Tuesday night and early Wednesday, after Clayton said just that during a radio interview on the first day of the league year, when the league was whipped into a frenzy by trades and big-money free agent signings.

It’s clear Jay Gruden doesn’t have a lot of hope for RGIII. I’d like to see Griffin make it, but Gruden is pretty good with QBs, and his brother I am sure has weighed in privately. RGIII may need to be humbled and a fresh start in a different system. I’d like to see him succeed. Seems like a standup guy.
Didn’t some news outlet announce that they were henceforth never going to use the word “Redskins” in connection with the NFL team that’s based in Washington DC?

Seems the Redskins are snakebit when it comes to QBs. Who was the last consistent Skins QB who played at a high level for more than a season or two? Theisman?
I think RGIII may have lost some speed with his knee injury. The average player in the NFL lasts for 3 years...RGIII may be in that group.

yes...I suspect you are right. He’s going to have to change his game, or he’ll be right there in that 3-4 year gap. I would guess he may survive for awhile as a backup, with hopes that he regains his mojo later on. We shall see.
