It’s just tougher to get men into a store in the first place. If I need an item that costs 10 dollars, I get the item and get the hell out. If I need an item and it costs 10 dollars, and I take my wife with me, we spend 160 dollars.

Maybe because they are in greater demand from women... not mentioning fags? duh!

I find it funny it is ok to mandate men to pay for contraception but when the markets find an opportunity to offset men product costs lest they disappear, it is called discrimination.

But this is another redistribution scheme.

"It's frustrating, I'm not really buying it for the packaging or the aesthetics," said U-D student Claire Cooperrider about the so-called "pink tax."

Simple solution, Claire: Buy the blue equivalents.

The vendor cannot charge more for the product than the customer is willing to pay. There are a few exceptions like obamacare, but the blue equivalent may be cheaper because it’s a harder sell. As mentioned, the solution is to compare ingredients and if both are the same, buy the cheaper version.

They make up a large part of the democrat base, so maybe they like taxes.

You can charge more for women’s products. They don’t care about price. They just get their husbands to pay for it.

Some exceptions - hair dye, for example, is cheaper if you buy the brands that are for women (hair is hair).

They do stories like this periodically.

Lots of factors play into it. How much marketing they do factors in. They put a lot more women’s ads out there for many products because there is a lot of competition for certain things and they know women buy more items than men. More advertising has to be paid for.

How much it costs to sell a product factors in. Where it is on the shelf factors in. End of an aisle? All that crap. Is it in an upscale store? That factors in. It may be the same type of product but have different ingredients. That factors in. Packaging may be more expensive. Might have a fancier box and little extras compared to the shrink-wrapped mens’ comparable product with no extras. With the shave gel perhaps men’s is less because they go through a can faster than a woman does.

They still are free to buy the lower priced product. There are plain no scent shave gels.

Well, the girls are a pre-built market for such amenities. [TG] If you want cost disparity, look at clothing prices...

Unit price isn’t the issue. It’s the number of products used to look your best.

I have one bottle of shampoo in the shower. Each woman in our family has ten bottles in the shower. Heaven help me if I accidentally bump one and set off the avalanche.

After the shower, a quick swipe with the razor, slap on some deodorant, drag a brush through the hair, scrub the teeth and I’m ready for the day — maybe a total of five products. Let’s see a woman do that!

The Gillette Fusion men's razor with five blades and packaged with two extra cartridges costs $10.79, while the women's Gillette Venus Embrace razor with five blades and packaged with two extra cartridges costs $10.99.

I'll whisper this with the back of my hand up to the edge of my mouth, "Buy the guys'razors. They don't use cheaper steal."

well, because they’re willing to pay for it. The solution would just to be charge everyone more.

I’ve been told during my brief stint in retail that women return goods at a much higher rate than man do but, who knows? I doubt there’s much difference in the razors, certainly none with the shaving cream. A savvy woman would just buy the men’s product.

Women are charged more because they are more gullible. They will believe anything you tell them.

Simple really, because women are willing to pay more for pretty packaging. Men are more driven by price, which is why 95% of advertising is aimed at women.

Women get to watch men being characterized as dumb on TV, and in return they show the advertiser that they really are dumb in real life.

This is a marketing opportunity for some store to sell generics.

Alternatively, we could establish a federal agency to set the price of every item on every store shelf.

Several reasons: 1. If I am on the Titanic, she gets to get off first. 2. If there is a noise at 2 a.m. I'm the one that has to go find out what it is. 3. If there is a dangerous situation, I'm the one that has to get in the way of it so she can get to safety 4. If there is a hostage situation, they always negotiate for the women and children first.

Them paying extra for shave gel (and not getting paid as much for work) is a surcharge.
