It took the United States Government to teach this kid from the suburbs of Boston that valuable lesson. ;-)
Also, I highly recommend tossing a handful of raisins into your oatmeal. That will further raise the fiber content - and we could all use more fiber in our diets. Even those who already think they have enough fiber should eat more fiber. They should always have more. More fiber.
Toss some flax seeds into that oatmeal with raisins. That will increase the fiber content even more!
If you think grits are bad, you didn’t get real grits. Someone played a mean trick on you because you talked funny.
I use a heaping tablespoon of peanut butter after it’s waved! YUMMM!
Also, we grew up eating it raw....just oats, milk and a little sugar so never sticky, haa!
Use whole rolled oats. Make with whole milk and a bit of water. Cook over low heat until the mixture comes to a soft boil, but not boil over and oats still have “crunch” to them. Stir in butter until butter melts. Use desired sweetener. I prefer honey. Yum!!!
Perhaps you prefer restaurants where much of the food is prepared by cootie carrying illegals. Where your order is sprinkled with flesh eating lice, top off with drug resistant infected sweat.
Bon appetit.
I eat oatmeal 5 times a week but I like it non watery..
I take a half cup of oatmeal add a full cup of water and put it in the microwave for 6 minutes.
Take it out, and add blueberrys and a half of a banana, and some milk.
As much as I like strawberrys they are better with special K than with oatmeal. -Tom
Soaking the rolled oats overnight makes the texture perfect and speeds up the cooking process in the morning. Serve with heavy cream and real maple syrup and it is fantastic.
I like sticky oatmeal.
Powered eggs give a real rush to the morning. ;)
